Working from his father-in-law’s living room, at the age of 17, armed with an eraser and a #2 pencil, Jose Jimenez started his first tax return. In 1982, he and his associate founded W & J Consultants, a home-based tax preparation company located in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. For the next ten years, he continued preparing taxes and building a client base. Always determined to further his knowledge Mr. Jimenez stayed vigilant for new methods in the tax preparation field. In 1992 he reviewed information gathered from an IRS workshop held in New York, where the focus was the emergence of technology with traditional tax preparation. Jose Jimenez was convinced that the combination of computers and tax software was significant in the fast pace world of technology. Therefore, he decided to look for software that would minimize the chance for any miscalculations, allowing him to prepare taxes with ease and efficiency. After reviewing a variety of software companies, he stumbled across a program that was being used by the IRS. This insured that the quality of the program would be consistent with that of federal standards. While this was a major factor in his decision, Jose Jimenez decided upon the software for one important reason, it filled his tax preparation needs.
That same year Tax Technology, Inc., was born. Jose Jimenez’s aspiration was to share his experience by giving preparers the tools needed to succeed in the industry. Becoming a reseller for TaxWise would allow him to do so. Through his contacts, he was introduced to the growing New York Metropolitan Latin American market. He began sales by going door to door and through referrals from satisfied customers. For the first four years the support team consisted of two individuals. Then in 1996, Tax Technology, Inc. acquired its first customer service specialist, Iris Y. Capobianco. For the next 6 years she single handedly supported the company’s 67 offices.
In 2002 Tax Technology, Inc. created a new sales and support division. That same year, Tax Technology, Inc. requested a meeting with TaxWise. They began their quest to Georgia, with one question at hand, “What is the name of the game?” The software representatives quickly responded, “BANK PRODUCTS.” With that, Tax Technology, Inc. decided to combine the best software with the leading refund anticipation lender, Household Bank, known today as HSBC. Bank products became the focal point for profits and expansion, allowing Tax Technology, Inc. to double its revenue. The development within that year brought Tax Technology, Inc. to rank ninth overall for production in the service bureau industry. With this growth also came the birth of Tax Technology II, lead by Emilio Jimenez. Located in Florida, Emilio Jimenez oversees the sales and service for the south eastern region of the United States.
At present Tax Technology, Inc, provides customer support for the TaxWise software to over 400 offices nationwide, holding fourth place in the industry. They have expanded their team of expert representatives. At the present, projected growth in bank product sales is at 50%, not only putting Tax Technology, Inc. in second place but making it the fastest growing service bureau in its trade.
